Need to re-migrate back to Mojang to migrate to a different Microsoft Account

Hello,

I have sent this into Minecraft Support but still have not heard back.

When my son and I migrated his Mojang account to Microsoft account, he used an email address that was associated with the free Minecraft account. He needs to somehow migrate back to his Mojang account and migrate to a new account that he can link to his paid account with Minecraft Java edition.

Or, is there a way to unlink the account and assign the email to this paid account?

I read through the support FAQ, but no luck.

If you migrated your Mojang account to the wrong Microsoft account, you will need to contact Minecraft support for them to review your son's account.

The migration process has ended on 19 September 2023. If you forgot to migrate your Mojang account to a Microsoft account, you will not be able to sign in.

However, if you already migrated your account, you can't re-migrate it to a different Microsoft account.

Please try these steps.

If your Mojang account has been migrated to Microsoft, you do not need to purchase the game again. If you are being prompted to do so, it is either because the migration process did not complete correctly or, more likely, you are logged into a different Microsoft account than the one you used for the migration.

What to do:

1. Check which Microsoft account you are logged into:

Make sure you are using the same Microsoft account that was used to migrate your Mojang account. If you do not remember which one it is, contact Microsoft support to retrieve the email address you used for the migration.

2. Check if the migration was completed:

Access your Mojang account profile on the Mojang website and check if the migration was completed. If not, try starting the migration process again.

3. Contact Mojang Support:

If the issue persists, contact Mojang Support via the Mojang Support website, providing your purchase receipt and explaining the situation.

4. Check Microsoft accounts:

Make sure you are not using a different Microsoft account than the one you used for the migration

Ok, that's the part you need to figure out with Mojang support, as it's not a Microsoft account issue, as this has only 2 possible reasons, either you migralted to a Microsoft account and you are not choosing to login with Microsoft button on the launcher or using the correct Microsoft account, or you haven't migrated yet and you need to log in with your Mojang account still that could be same email that the Microsoft account you think you migrated to, but would be on a different server, most of the time the issue it's they are trying to log into Mojang accounts after migration instead of choosing log in with Microsoft, that's why they share that information
