I bought a Gold account for my grandson the only way I could get it to work was to make a new account. Now how do I block him from buying more? I can not remove my credit card information it won't let me!

Game Sharing

There's an option to remove your credit card info from your account. That way, no one can buy anything at all whatsoever. I actually have only had to put my credit card info once for a season pass and took it off afterwards (don't really trust my credit card info anywhere). Also, personally I don't ever use my main email for Xbox that way I don't need to be worried about being hacked or whatever. I have one email for personal use and another for Xbox, IGN, Reddit, etc. Maybe I'm the only one who does this but I just find it more easy that way instead of being scared of gamesharing.

Are you using a childs account?

Maybe it needs credit card for age verification to download the game?

but it is free unless you choose to use it with a gold subscription.

either Setup a child account for your sibling and use a parent account to restrict Options - this would be the correct way

or dont allow your sibling to Access your Profile but let them use a different one with prepaid Cards - this is also ok

or if they absolutely use your account at least dont use payment Instrument but refer to prepaid codes for Gold and for funds to make purchases online - this would be a Violation to Terms of use as every user shall have his own Profile.

Does your child have a credit card on file? I think you need one on file if you want to download a free game from xbox.com.
