Need help to find my captures

I was able to use the Capture feature of the Game Bar but when I go to look for the video I captured, it is not there. The prompt always says: "There was a problem getting your captures. Try again in a bit." It's been like that for months now and I thought it would fix itself, but now I need the video I captured so what do I do?

The procedure for capturing video with the Windows bar is very simple and there are no particular steps to solve your problem. It is important to ensure that you are following the procedure correctly.

Before starting to address the following issues, first ensure you have the latest version of Windows and verify that all Windows updates have been completed.

It's also important to ensure that the "Record in the background while I'm playing a game" checkbox is selected in the Game Bar settings (or activate it in Windows Settings > Gaming > Captures).
Remeber that some games disable recording capability by default. You won't be able to make clips of these titles.

From personal experience, if you've selected everything correctly and it still isn't working, it might be necessary to reset Windows by following the guided procedure.

I use a laptop (HP Envy) and the software I am referring to is the Game Bar. The steps I used is Wins + Alt + R. It was working fine a few years back but now I don't know what happened.

any captures will be in the captures folder under video, you don't need to look for them in the gamebar

You need to use the Xbox Companion App or the Xbox App (mobile) to access your captures.

Optionally you can use the Windows + G shortcut > Capture > See all my captures.

You can find any captures done locally on that PC that are not sync to the Xbox Network.
