Need help playing online xbox with my kids.

Thank you for getting back to me I really appreciate it. Yes, I have the Series S as my primary console so my kids can access my game pass. I did set each of them up with their own accounts so that they could play without using my account. I have added them on my friends list and their cousin, but when I'm online and they are online it does not show them as online when I try to add them in a game like Minecraft.

They are set up in my family settings so I have set it up so that they can play multiplayer and all that. I just wasn't sure since they have their own accounts if they needed their own membership to play online or something? I wasn't sure if I'm missing something. I'll double check the appear online today to see if that shows them, but I couldn't even send them invites.

We notice that you are trying to play with your kids on Minecraft for Xbox. Based on the note from a support article of Mojang:

If a member of your family group wants to play multiplayer features in Minecraft, such as Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Realms, an organizer can adjust these settings by using the Xbox Family Settings app.

1. Sign in to the app with an organizer’s Microsoft account, and then do one of the following to get to Settings:
   
   • Select the tile for the member’s account that you want to manage, and then select the Settings icon in the top-right corner of the Family screen.
     
   • Select the Settings icon at the bottom of the Family screen, and then select the tile for the member’s account that you want to manage.
     
2. Select Manage Minecraft under Content restrictions.
   
3. If Minecraft is rated above a member’s age limit, enable Allow gameplay under Enable Minecraft to grant the member an exception to play it.
   
   • Enable Multiplayer to let a member play Minecraft with others online, even if their account settings block them from multiplayer features.

Based on the information you provided, it seems like you have set up your Xbox Series S as your primary console, which allows your kids to access your Game Pass subscription. However, it's possible that the issue you're experiencing is related to the Xbox Live account settings.

Before we proceed, just want to confirm are they using different account when you tried playing with your kids?



In the meantime, to ensure that your kids can play online with their cousins and you, you need to make sure that they have their own Xbox account and their Xbox Live account settings allow them to play online and socialize with friends. Here are the steps to check and adjust the settings:



1. Sign-in to your Xbox account on the Xbox Series S console.

2. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.

3. Go to Profile & system > Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox Live privacy.

4. Select View details & customize > Communication & multiplayer.

5. Make sure that the "You can join multiplayer games" and "You can communicate outside of Xbox Live with voice & text" options are set to "Allow".

6. Save your changes and exit the settings.

Additionally, it's important to note that if your kids' cousins are not on your Xbox Live friends list, you will need to add them as friends before you can invite them to play online. Here are the steps to add friends:



1. Sign-in to your Xbox account on the Xbox Series S console.

2. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.

3. Go to Profile & system > Friends & clubs > Find someone.

4. Enter your kids' cousins' Xbox Live gamertags and select "Add friend".

5. Once they accept your friend request, you can invite them to play online.

We will have to make sure as well that their accounts are set properly to be able to play multiplayer games online. If they are not added in a family group, you can try to perform the same steps provided above using their account. To check if it will let you go through. However, if any case that their account will be needing some permissions for an adult account. You may want to add them to the family under with your Microsoft account to manage their accounts.

Regarding your question about the Game Pass subscription, it should not affect your ability to play online with your kids and their cousins. As long as you have an active Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, you should be able to play online with others after everything is set up properly.

Lastly, make sure to check online status. Make sure your kids account is set to appear online. They can do this by pressing the Xbox button on their controllers, navigating to their profiles, and selecting Appear online.
