Need help! Hydra. SL 34

I haven't fought the Moonlight butterfly for this purpose; you cant summon people in the Basin if you kill the butterfly. So I'm looking for some help, two people, to help me take down Havel and the Hydra. It'd be greatly appreciated! Just shoot me a message
whenever.

Why is it so hard to play with friends?

Can you see any signs? The guy at sl 40 asking for help didn't realize it, but he had defeated the moon light butterfly. The butterfly is the boss for the area, not the hydra - So if it's killed, you can't summon anyone in the area except sifs forest.

 

SL 40 in need of help

I'm currently stuck in the Darkroot Basin, I can't seem to solo the Hydra. It's water cannons devastate me before I can even near it because of it's AoE. If one or two people could help me beat it, I'd be grateful!

You won't be able to get to havel with a summon because the door from the basin has a fog wall.



As for the hydra he is easy. Go to Andre and buy a kite sheild and upgrade it to +5. Run in close to the hydra and block his head bash attack with it. Then chop his heads off one by one. If you really need to go back to the undead asylum and get the rusted
iron ring. At your SL the hyrda will be a pushover.

 

Knight, SL: 33. I used the Master Key to open the door from the undead burg tower to get to Havel at the bottom. Once he sees you, run up the stairs, let him chase you to one of the open rooms above, then get behind him and run down through the door at
the bottom that goes to the basin. When Havel comes back down, he wont go through the doorway..so I kept poking my head inside the doorway to get his attention, then ran back outside...he will chase you and make big swing at you.. that's when you switch to
two-hand and strike back. He will return to his original place instead of coming after you and just keep repeating that process until he's dead. As for the Hydra, I found the best place to go is to the far right as you can go at the waters' edge. They won't
shoot the ice projectiles at that position and will try to lunge attack you only. Hold block down until after he attacks, then give him a few smacks before the heads pull back. Just keep doing that from that position until all the heads are gone.

IMO the only way to go about Havel is light-armour, and speed. You want to take the weight Down to 1/4 of max equipment load. That will give you the speed to run around Havel wich is heavy-armour in circles, and stab him in the back. You want an upgraded
weapon to kill him,othervise it takes forever to finish him, and the chances of making a mistake increases,so perhaps the first time you come there through upper undead burg,you might want to by-pass him,and simply run past him.You can then proceed forward
up to the blacksmith,and upgrade youre weapon,and later return to claim the ring.You could also even more alternativly run the map from there backwards to get to knight solaire to receive the white-soapstone wich will allow you to summon White phantoms as
long as you havent defeatet the upper undeadburg-demon on the bridge.I cant recall the name,but its up the Tower where you went Down,and past havel,at the buttom.you can then access havel as Theres no fogwall from upperundeadburg,and defeat him together.

 

The Hydra isent too bad on youre own wich is the only way i'v ever done it.You equip youreself with the best 100% physical/magikresistent shield/armour it in youre arsenal that isent too heavy as you want to be able to Dodge the hydra's magikattaks as you
aproach it.first you have to lure out the crystal-gollems,and take them out one at a time.When those are cleared I aproach the hydra from high on the bank,and dodge-roll the magikattaks untill I reach the Waters edge wich is below the range of the magikattaks,and
forces a switch to physical attaks.You then block his physical attaks with youre 100% shield,and proceed to chop of the heads as they retreat.I normally position myself with my shield up(ofcourse)at the Waters edge with my camera facing backwards.That way
I can see the heads behind me,and know where to run.Makes Things a bit easier.Be carefull not to wandre out into the lake too far,as you can potentially go too far,and drop of a ledge there is.The last of the heads I use a bow,and arrow.Hope this can be of
some use,some assistance

 

You can also use firebombs to take off the last head. Just manually aim them.

 

Ohh yeah never tryed that,but if one climb up the rocks to the right for the last head,it cant touch you but passes so close you almost cant miss.

Anyway I was thinking back to the first time I was up against Havel.I had good speed,and quickly got into the rythem with the backstabbing,but I only had a tiny puny weapon,and I litterally had to stab him a 100 times,and ofcourse he ended up hammering me
as flat as a pancake LoL Good times for sure.Cant wait for DS2.Maybe i'll get it for Xbox this time

 

First time I killed Havel, I kind of cheated. I just hit him through the door with my halbert. After the hit just roll backwards as he can hit you through the door as well. He always attacked after being hit.

 

havel is a pain in the butt to kill but very easy if you can dodge his attacks, and the hydra is very easy kill all the crystal golems, and hug the right wall and there will be a pile of rocks in the front of the hydra and from there he will try to bite
you but dodge and cut their heads and you can get the last head with range attacks very simple

 

Can you even fight the Hydra from Darkroot forest? I thought you had to go thru the big tree in Blight Town, which takes you to Ash Lake, in order to fight the boss.

 

There is 2 Hydras. 1 is in Ash Lake and the other is at the bottom of Darkroot garden.

 

Nice. I never knew that. I never beat the hydra in ash lake and I just assumed they were the same hydra, seeing as how the world is so interconnected.
