NEED HELP! Have USD currency on my account in Canada, can't use the money.

My friend sent me a $67 Gift Card for Xbox One. I redeemed it like usual. He lives in the states and I live in Canada. I'm trying to buy Xcom 2 and I cannot use the funds and it wont do a simple currency exchange like any other place would. I feel like I've
been robbed, can I be helped in any way so I can buy this game?

Microsoft Currency between regions

I really believe there should be a way to exchange the currency between regions. The reason why I am saying this is because; I have a friend from canada that gave me 504 currency from his canada region. My region is USA. I changed my region to Canada so
I could maybe use it. I need a Canada credit card in order to use the currency. There should be a way that microsoft is able to exchange the currency for something that is equal value. Because at this point I have waited a month to try and use the currency
that was given to me and I can't even use it. There really needs to be a fix for it. If someone could help me make this exchange it would be really helpful. I don't want to have my friend waste money and me not be able to use it.

Heya Guys! So im a very variety sized gamer i have been an xbox gamer for an extremely long time, At christmas of this year i built a gaming computer and have been gaming on the PC since then. but i had a huge urge to play xbox again, my friend living in
the UNITED STATES Bought me a xbox card with 25 USD on it. Since it was USD and not CDN it split my microsoft account into two ( please see the gyazo screenshot )

Now you can clearly see it has split my account into two now i want to purchase gold with my money but when i go on xbox i cannot use this money only can use my canadian money. so i contacted xbox support and they said to go onto change my region and to
change my region from canada to canada because it will merge both of my accounts together. but it prompted me with that error message.

 

Currency is region locked. Microsoft is not a banking institution and therefore cannot exchange foreign currency.

 

Where in heavens name would you think console companies are banks ? Or any online service for that matter

Currency has always been region specific for all gaming services only licensed banks or financial services are exchange companies like paypal or actual banks
