Need Help Formating USB for updated Xbox One on a Mac

It's a OSX issue

You will probably need to re-format the HDD to use it on your Mac

Open Disk Utility, and follow the steps here:

Are you sure the Hitachi 500GB is USB 3.0?

You may want to verify that again with your Mac.

If Xbone does not recognized the USB 3.0 HDD it will not allow you to format it for games and apps.

With your Mac you might also try to format for NTFS.

Make sure it is USB 3.0 first.

To install an update with a USB stick you have to format it in fat 32 Windows version a mac has a slightly different fat 32 format. after you format it you have to extract the file you downloaded from the xbox manual update guide and place it in the main
dirrectly of the drive. it should be named something like $systemupdate####_####

After that you turn off the xbox place the usb in and restart the xbox. it should jump right into the update.

If you navigate here:

Select "I need to update my console offline" and then select your xbox console edition.. it will take you to the download page.

Please note: These items are required

• A Windows-based PC with an Internet connection and a USB port.
• A USB flash drive with a minimum 6 GB of space formatted as NTFS.

You can also select on the available hyperlink on the download stage for how to format your USB drive.

Once you have formatted your USB, downloaded the update file, Step 4 will show you how to boot into the xbox troubleshooting menu.
