    NAT type strict on mobile hot spot


    Okay I have AT&T mobile hot spot because I live out in the country and that is really my only option at the moment. Now I use to have Verizon and never had an issue with my NAT type and if I did I could just restart the Xbox and the internet and be totally
    fine. The only reason I switched is because AT&T has unlimited data. With the AT&T hotspot the NAT is strict and I can not seem to talk to the right person at AT&T to get a solid answer. I have been told that it can be done and then told that it can not. So
    has anyone had an issue with this or know of an answer that would be great.

    Att hot spot

    we have switched to att mobile hot spot. Now the son can’t play with friends on live, says nat strict. Went through troubleshooting still no change. Anything else we can try?

    I have tried connecting to a mobile hot-spot and different WiFi connection, I primarily use an ether net connection but neither of them are resolving the issue, the Nat type is open and there are no issues.

    Hey Xox, I'm afraid that you'll always be on a moderate or strict NAT trying to connect through a hot spot.

    Hey,

    So i have done some digging and have found out that "Due to the nature of smartphones or mobile hotspots, I’m afraid opening a NAT type is not possible without first tethering your phone to a computer (laptop). This is mainly because these mobile hotspots
    and smartphones do not support a UPnP routing option."

    There is a work around that you can try and can read the article here (https://forums.att.com/t5/Phone-Device-Upgrades/Open-Nat-Type-On-Phone-Hotspot/td-p/4976507)
    but apparently it will slow your speeds down and may not work 100%.
