    My Xbox360 is asking for a system update for the Kinect feature, but I don’t see it...


    I want to be able to play old Kinect games like Dance Central 1-3 and Kinect sports with my siblings to have fun again. Until I was met with my Xbox360 saying that a system update is required, but I do not see the feature to update anywhere. I have been searching around the internet and have not came across an answer. Hopefully there is one. I am not connected to Xbox live and I hope that is the case, but I don’t want to pay for Xbox live to update it but if it has to be done I will do it.

    I also have one last question but I am sure I know the answer to it, just for reassurance, I am having problems with the internet, I should get a Ethernet cable to be able to connect to my internet and then Xbox live correct?

    I see! I thought it would have made me pay. Let’s say if the Xbox live doesn’t solve my problem, is there a way I can still save my Kinect with the update?

    Hi,

    there is no need to pay if you just connect your 360 to Xbox live.

    You only have to pay for a sub if you want to play online multiplayer games.

    PS: Free2play games can be played online even without a sub !

    6/20/12 Update corrupting Live data...

    Yes if I reattach the Kinect the console requests an update again, even though the latest update is already installed. It then goes through the endless loop of asking for the update, installing the update, restarting and then asking for the update again.
    If I decline the update, I get the missing/corrupt features message. There is NO error code with the message, just the error message. It happens with my 20 GB HD and my 120 GB HD. The update installs correctly without the Kinect connected to the console.
