Still getting the "That didn't help" error

Upon changing the Display Overrides from Auto-Detect to HDMI, the picture changed to a 640 x 480 resolution and 4K was not an available option. Interesting!

    Thoughts??

    Thanks again Sammy!

Hi, Wcnightmare19! Thank you for reaching out.
I'm AJ, an Independent Advisor for the Xbox Community.
I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with your console's resolution settings.

If you don't mind, I'd appreciate it if you could answer the following questions:

    • Besides your TV, do you have any other external devices plugged into your console?

    • Are you using an HDMI hub/splitter with your console?

    • Have you already tried using a different HDMI cable or a different HDMI port on your TV? trying a different TV is also recommended. While I understand everything's been working fine for over a year, it would be best to be as thorough as possible.

    ---------

    Additionally,

    • Could you go to Settings > General > TV & Display options > Video fidelity & overscan, and switch the display override from Auto-detect to HDMI? if it's already on HDMI, try switching it to auto-detect.

    • Could you also give this a try?

    - Press and hold your console's power button until it shuts down.
    - Unplug your console's power cord for 5 minutes.
    - Turn your TV off and unplug it for a few minutes.
    - Plug your console's power cord back in.
    - Turn your console on and check if the issues persist.

Thank you! I'll be looking forward to your reply.
    Best regards.

Hi, Wcnightmare19! Thank you for your reply and the additional information.

    - Is your console enrolled in the Xbox Insider program?

    - May I ask if you have already tried performing a soft factory reset on your console? if you haven't yet, would you mind giving it a try?

By "Soft" I mean that none of your games will be uninstalled, but accounts and local save data will be removed from the console. This would help refresh your system as well as clear any temporary files that may be causing this. To do so:

    - Go to Settings > System > Console info > Reset Xbox > Keep games and apps.
    - Just keep in mind you will need an internet connection and your account details (for each account) to sign in again.

    * Note: Resetting your console to its factory defaults erases all accounts, saved games, settings, and home Xbox associations. Anything not synchronized with Xbox Live will be lost. If your console has been constantly connected to the internet and the Xbox Network, your saved data should be backed up on the cloud.

I'll be looking forward to your reply.
    Best regards.
