My xbox series S controller doesn't turn on or charge when plugged in?

I've also sent the issue to Activision Support,

if i plug into usb and i have rechargeable batteries in the controller, will the batteries charge ?

I don't think that will work? unless it's a Series S/X play and charge kit,

If using something like Energizer rechargeable AA batteries you'll need to use the dedicated chargers for those batteries, an Xbox controller doesn't have the means to charge them.

Does the xbox turn on? I know this sounds silly, but I'm assuming that's what you mean by ping. Sometimes my xbox doesn't light up but it's on and fully playable. Sometimes the controller line that lights up doesn't light up but my controller is still connected.
I find this happens when I have a controller plugged in or the charge cable plugged in and the controller not connected to it. If none of that is the issue and all of the connections are on straight and everything plugged in correctly your xbox could be D.O.A.
In this case if it's new exchange it, if it's not then contact customer support for warranty options (800)469-9269.

Falcon, try powering on your console using the procedure below, if it is not already a fault in the internal power supply of your console that requires repair, it should power on and display the troubleshooting screen.

Turn off the console and then unplug the power cord to make sure the console is completely turned off.

- Wait 1 minute

- Reconnect the power cord.

- Press and hold the BIND button (used to sync controllers on the console) and then press the Xbox button on the console.

- Continue pressing the BIND button for 10-15 seconds.

- I should listen to two ignition tones a couple of seconds apart.

Note: If you do not hear two ignition tones after 15 seconds, it means that this failed. Similarly, if you hear a screeching of "off", that also means that this failed.

- You must release the BIND button after the second power tone.

- The console should start and show the problem resolution screen.

If anyone is having trouble with your xbox elite wireless series 2 controller disconnecting while your using it the controller requires alot of battery and a solid Bluetooth connection so any Bluetooth devices near it will cause the controller to disconnect
i had this problem yesterday. To fix it all you have to do is hard restart your console and before you turn anything on turn off Bluetooth on all devices like phones wireless headphones anything that requires Bluetooth once you turn off everything plug the
charging cable that came with the controller into the front usb of the xbox and the other end directly into the controller. Then turn on your Xbox once it boots up make sure your controller is turned on and then update your controller with the cable still
plugged in once it updates start playing a game with the cable out and test it for about 2 hours and if it doesn't disconnect try turning all your Bluetooth devices back on to make its working also instead of plugging the cable into the xbox for charging the

Try this procedure, hope it helps: Plug the power cord back into your Xbox Series X|S; Turn on the control; Press and hold the sync button on your Xbox Series X|S; Press the sync button on the controller until the time it starts flashing rapidly, then release it.
