My Xbox Series controller I got as a replacement about 4-5 months ago not syncing to Xbox One

Last night and the night before, my controller started randomly disconnecting every few minutes and now won't connect to my Xbox at all unless it's plugged in. This controller is a replacement that Microsoft sent me for my old one, which also started doing the same thing at the time. I exhausted all of the options in the troubleshooter and nothing is helping. This controller doesn't have a warranty because it just continued where the warranty for the old one left off and is now expired.

Are there any other things I can try to get it to work? Anything the troubleshooter doesn't mention? Because I can't afford to buy yet another controller and this is getting frustrating. (This is the fifth one I've had issues with since 2021.)

Note: I would like to add that I'm not abusive towards my controllers. I don't throw them and my hands are clean when I use them.

I'm having an issue. The sync button on my system isn't doing anything. I press it and I hear a clicking sound, but the light isn't flashing.

To unpair it, press and hold the pair button on top of the controller for a few seconds until it vibrates twice.

Then, pair it again.

Turn on your controller by pressing and holding the Xbox button.

Press and release the Pair button on the Xbox.

Within 20 seconds, press and hold the controller’s Pair button (a circular button on top of the controller as you hold it in your hands) until the controller's Xbox button flashes a few times.

That means it's searching for a console.

The Xbox button stays lit once it's connected

I am sorry to hear that.

The basic troubleshooting involves resetting the controller pairing, checking for a firmware update, testing it on another device, and connecting it via a USB cable.

Have you done all of those?

I don't have another device to test it on, but I've tried updating the firmware and syncing with a USB cable.

What does "resetting the controller pairing" mean?

my controller stopped working about a month after i got xbox one. was able to turn it on but not sync. unplugged xbox from power source and worked fine after that
