Sorry to hear about the issue with your controllers. Have you tried power cycling the console or resetting keeping apps and games?

Very simple solution. Find out what input Xbox automatically sets it too. Then switch your HDMI inputs on your receiver. For example on my Onkyo I switched the Xbox HDMI to VCR DVR. Now it starts up at the right input every time.

What I would do is to exit Steam completely when you are playing an Xbox app game. I had a similar issue recently. I was trying to play Among Us with my controller on my PC and it started rapidly switching between controller and keyboard+mouse input to the point where I could barely move. Steam was open in the background, so I went down to the bottom right of the taskbar and clicked the up arrow, then right clicked Steam and clicked Exit Steam. The reason this happened was because of Steam controller remapping interfering with the direct input of controls to the PC.

when I updated the driver it seemed to just switch to the TVs audio device "intel(R)display" or something like that, the driver the TV was first on, ive just restarted it, and when I do, its connected and I have access to the volume, but no matter what I fiddle with no audio comes out, I even tried testing the audio itself and all I get is "failed to play test tone"
yes it is my first time, and yes ive only used 1 HDMI cable, was I supposed to use multiple?

Thanks for input ,i shall buy an adapter but in high dudgeon. i still think it is a matter of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing
