    My xbox screen is stuck dimmed. Can barely see the screen.


    So out of the blue my xbox display became dim, like the brightness was turned all the way down and its stuck like that, makes it impossible to play games. I hard reset, restarted, unplugged the power cable for 5 minutes plugged it back in. Even bought an entirely new hdmi cable and it still doesn't fix my problem. I have searched everywhere online for a solution but nobody has ever had this problem i guess. I'm currently deployed and my favorite past time when im not in the field is obviously playing xbox but i cant do that if i cant see what im playing. Just to clarify.. the screen isn’t completely blank, its just really dark and can barely see anything. Somebody please help me out so i can get back to gaming im starting to lose my mind.

    I'm Samy an independent advisor. Welcome to the Xbox community. How are you?

    The hard reset you say was resetting the console to factory defaults keeping the games and app or deleting everything? If you test the console on another HDMI port on your TV, does the same happen? Could you test the console on another TV too?

    Reset the console to factory defaults, you won't lose anything but you will need to log in with your account again. Email and password are required.

    Follow this path and select reset keeping games and app.

    In 5 to 10 minutes you will finish reconfiguring your console

    To reset the console>

    Settings> System> Console Info> Reset Console

    ***Do not reset your console without having your account email and password.***

    If resetting the console didn't make a difference I'm afraid the console needs repair.

    Is it the TV settings itself?? All TVs have a setting where you can turn the screen brightness up or down - if your Xbox isn't the issue then my best bet is that it's the TV itself. You can have a look usually either through buttons underneath or behind the screen (if the model has them), otherwise all TV remotes allow you to access the screen settings.

    It worth giving it a shot, as someone who has had it happen to them it took me way longer than it should have to figure out. Turns out my younger siblings had punked me hahaha.

    That's odd. Nothing should be deleted if you chose the option to keep games and apps. It only reinforces the idea that the console hardware is defective. Unfortunately, I'm out of ideas but I hope you can solve the problem.

    Well just did a reset where i keep my games and apps, but everything else is deleted. Unfortunately did not fix the problem, screen is still dimmed. Huh, bummer. Well i’ll see what else i can do but for now thanks for the help samy.
