My XBOX One will not accept a WPA2 Personnel security type.

I have tried: Resetting modem/router twice, Disconnecting XBOX from power then powering up, testing Internet connectivity. Each time after putting in case sensitive network id and try to get into network it says it does not support the security type of the modem.

Willie, I wanted to make sure I kept you in the loop, please see my latest post - I responded to Onyx and You but was only able to notify onyx. I appreciate both of your efforts.

It would be interesting to test a network in WPA, instead of WPA2, since it was previously configured with this encryption.

Also, change the bandwidth of the networks to:

5GHz 20MHz; 40 MHz and 80 MHz.

2.4GHz: 20MHz and 40MHz.

And test each one separately.

Well, I didn't test the settings on the router, but the Rep I texted with (arg !) reset it back and forth between open and WPA2. She set up another SSID and gave it open security type (now set to WPA2) and we tried that on XBOX - to no avail - got the same error message.

Additionally, you could also:

Change the physical address of the network card:

1. Navigate to General > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address;

2. Click Clean Up and then click Restart.

Reset XBOX to factory defaults, (if you haven't tried it yet)

Hi Onyx and Willie. Thanks for your patience. I have ordered a router/modem which claims to be game friendly. In the comments section several people noted that their Xbox 1s were working fine. (netgear c7000) It arrives on June 2nd. I'll keep you posted. Finding a router/modem that was acceptable to COX, XBOX1 and had VOIP was a task I tell you.
