  1. My Xbox One S was unplugged during a system update and won't turn on

My Xbox One S was accidentally unplugged during a system update. When I click the power putton, it turns on and stays on, but no video shows up on the tv. Is there anything I can do or is it broken?

Hi there My name is Ron, I'm an independent advisor. I will be more than happy to help you.

Please do the steps below in sequence to do a factory reset and let me know if it works:

    - Unplug the network cable if you're using a wired network connection.

    - Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

    - Wait 30 seconds.

    - Plug the power cord back in.

    - Press and hold the BIND button (the one you use to sync controllers) and the EJECT button, and then press the Xbox button on the console.

    - Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.

    - Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart.

Note: If you don't hear two power-up tones after 15 seconds, it means this failed. Likewise, if you hear any “power-down” chirps, that also means this failed.

    - You can release the BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.

    - The console should start and show the Troubleshooting screen

    - Choose "reset this Xbox" and there you have an option to Keep Games and Apps (already downloaded) or to Remove Everything

Console will beep but won't turn on

I have the same problem with my xbox one original. I unplugged the console during one new system updates you get if your signed up for the early updates. And I plugged it back in at a friends and since then it hasn't come back on,
it just makes a beeping noise but the lights along with console won't come on. Please help! I have tried unplugging it several times but it doesn't work.

My Series S turned its self on last night.

is it supposed to turn on though?
As stated above this occurs when the console checks for a system update and the time, 3am, is around the time when its mandatory to update, US time.

During the stage between Verifying and Applying, when the consoles restarts during the update, the Xbox button on the console will flash or pulse about 15-20 times for a XBox OneX and about 6-10 times for a Xbox Series X.

So, the consoles are designed specifically to turn themselves on in the middle of the night to run updates? That is a seriously bad design if you ask me...there's no reason for it to do that. None of my other electronics turn themselves on...my TV and PC both update when I turn them on. Looks like I'll start unplugging my Xbox at night in that case.

Having said that, neither my One X or Series X have installed system updates when turned off...they wait until I turn the thing on

    Need help with an update

Power cycle your Xbox One S: Sometimes simply powering down the console can help reset the update process. To power cycle your Xbox One S, hold down the power button on the front of the console for 10 seconds until it fully powers down. Then, unplug the power cord from the console, wait a few minutes, and plug it back in. Turn the console back on and see if the update continues.

Clear the system cache: Clearing the system cache can help resolve issues with the console's software. To clear the system cache, turn off your Xbox One S and unplug it from the power outlet. Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. When the Xbox logo appears on the screen, press and hold the sync button on the console until the logo stops flashing. This will clear the system cache and you can try to update your console again.

Use a wired connection: If you're updating your Xbox One S over Wi-Fi, try using a wired connection instead. This can sometimes help speed up the download and reduce the chance of a connection error.
