My Xbox one s started smelling like burnt plastic and wire

Perhaps this has already affected the console. I would power the console using another power cord.

If the console doesn't turn on, I recommend sending it for repair.

Console is about 2 years old, and started to smell of burning wires today. Always well ventilated. Increased use due to COVID-19. Any suggestions?

I would definitely keep a close eye on it as it may be a fire danger, check that all the vents are free of dust and its out in the open for best air circulation.

So that tells me that your xbox likely has internal damage or a short that is causing overheating or wire connections to begin to fry. It's gonna get worse over time, so i would highly recommend looking into getting it repaired as soon as possible. It could
run like that for a long time, or it could fail soon, so if you decide to look into getting it repaired, here's a link to the Xbox repair page.

Have you checked the power cord to see if it's hot? It really could be anything wrong with it. But Definitely get the system checked out.
