My Xbox one s is making a grinding noise

First, welcome to the Xbox community. Given the problem you're having, I'm afraid it's a hardware issue, which you'd need to take to repair. Anyway, before we confirm this, I suggest you try the procedure below.

Step 1. Press and hold the Xbox button on the console for at least 10 seconds to open the Power center.

Step 2. Then unplug the power supply from your console and wait for 3 minutes.

Step 3. Plug the power supply back into the Xbox console.

Step 4. Press the Xbox button on the console to turn it on again.

Well, a 'grinding' noise certainly doesn't sound good. However, my Xbox 360 S will make a short, loud whirring sound sometimes, which is perfectly normal.

My Scorpio Xbox One X (which arrived today) has been running pretty quietly, perhaps even quieter than my Xbox One S.

Is it running hot? Be sure to give it some "breathing room" so it can ventilate enough air to keep cool.

Do you have a disc inside? Is that making the grinding noise? If so, do other discs cause the same noise?

Yeah. it's a sort of grinding noise. Unfortunately now is broken. It turns on but is not starting up and makes the grinding noise.

Could it be updates? Its happening to me on a Monday morning. And my Xbox keeps making loud grinding noises.
