My xbox one s has a faulty hdmi component what should I do?

The Xbox One has HDMI out for Video/Audio output ( HDMI input as well ) and an Optical Out for Audio.

S-Video hasn't been around for a few years now since it would be pointless Rather bad even over 12 years ago that I last used one. You might mean component and NOT S-video, which the Xbox One doesn't support either. The good news is that you can just
use a simple HDMI->Component cable which does a fine job converting the output to what you might need

Just Bing "HDMI to Component" and you will see if that is what you need.

i used the component cable which came with the xbox, but that is faulty, but it didnt work with my HDMI cable either. but with my friends xbox it works fine.

Since the E model does not support Component video or VGA video out of the video port (i.e. no cables made for it like the original and S models), you would need to get a HDMI converter. I use one that is HDMI to VGA on my Xbox One to my projector. If your
TV does not have HDMI, then it would need component or VGA inputs in order to receive a HD signal. If you TV does not have those inputs, then you will need to upgrade your TV.

Also I should point out that the included video RCA cable included with the console is a composite cable, not component. Component cables are analog HD cables with the signal split into red, green and blue with each lead colored appropriately. What you
referred to as component is in fact a composite cable.

it should also be noted that only the 360(s) has a true hdmi encoder. with the phat's your better off using the component cables.

well what 360 do you have older model with HDMI or one without, cause if you have a TV that is at least a flat screen you should have a choice of HDMI, component (red/blue/green for video, and red white for audio), or standard composite (yellow for video
and red/white for audio) 360's come with the standard composite video cable. so if your tv has a choice of composite or component and you have one of the other free, use the other, you can find the component cable in stores that sell 360 accessories. another
slightly more $$$ option is a AV switch box that plugs into the input of your TV and lets you hook up to 4 devices to that box. My TV only has 2 HDMI and one component video input, I have my 360 via the HDMI and i have a AV switch box hooked to the input
