my xbox one controller only works while plugged in.

If the controller only works while connected this mean that the controller is the issue. We may need to get it replaced.

You can request a replacement for your controller by signing in to this link and submitting the controller's serial number:

After you have successfully completed the replacement order the shipping label will be sent to you within 24-48 hours.

Have you trying resetting your controller pairing?

Does this also happen when connected via a USB cable?

To unpair it, press and hold the pair button on top of the controller for a few seconds until it vibrates twice.

Remove the batteries, wait for a few seconds, and reinsert them.

Once this is done, try to pair it again.

Turn on your controller by pressing and holding the Xbox button.

Press and release the Pair button on the Xbox Console.

Within 20 seconds, press and hold the controller’s Pair button (a circular button on top of the controller as you hold it in your hands) until the controller's Xbox button flashes a few times.

That means it's searching for a console.

The Xbox button stays lit once it's connected.

I have the same problem. Two controllers. One works fine. The other controller only responds to the power button when wireless. It works fine on USB.

I might have had a stereo adapter (without headset) plugged into one while updating. I wasn't really paying attention because both worked while plugged in via usb.

Hello, Im using the xbox one stereo Headset.

Also im not hearing any sound while navigating through the console.

I only have one wireless controller, but i tried different headphones plugging them into the adapter on the controller and no sound either. But on my phone both headphones are working.
