    I'm wondering why this happens. Is this a normal thing? My friends don't have this problem. I don't know why this happens. Can I please have some help?

    Gold is required to play in online games. Some weekends Xbox will have Free Play Days where you can play multiplayer as if you had gold. I recommend buy Game Pass Ultimate since it bundles Gold, Game Pass, and Game Pass (PC)

    That's normal. Gold is required in order to play online.

    Do your friends have a Gold account tied to their console? Perhaps a (parent, sibling, etc) has an active Gold subscription on their console?

    In order to play online, you must either:

    • Have a Gold subscription.
    • Someone with a Gold subscription must have that console set as their Home console.
