My xbox one console requested a forced update after i downloaded and installed the update...

Hello when a new update is released you can manually download it in Settings - System - Update Console.

Only after a period of time has passed will the update become mandatory to install, hence forcing you to do it.

If you do not like this you can enable instant on mode on your Xbox One so when you are not on it and the console gets an update, it will do the update while you are not using it then return back to standby mode.

I have sent you an invite to the Preview Program. If approved, then you should get a service message from Xbox on your Xbox One console in your messages. The message will include a link to download the Xbox Preview Dashboard app. You'll need to use the app
to register your console for Preview updates.

To register your Xbox One console just install the Preview Dashboard and open it, you should then see a button that says "Registration". After clicking that button just wait for it to finish processing the request. After the request is submitted then it
can take up to 48 hours for registration to be completed. Once it's been finished then your Xbox will tell you that it needs to update. Just install the update and you're a full fledged member of the Preview Program!

A. If you are using the Xbox One “Instant On” (the low power state that allows you to instantly power up your console by saying “Xbox On”), your console automatically checks for updates when you turn it off. Once we make the update available (on Tuesday,
December 10th, 5:00 PM PT) this means the following will happen:

Your console will automatically download the update after you turn it off. Once the update has been downloaded in the background, your console will power completely down.
Please note: You will need to manually power your console back on after the update has been downloaded. Because the update will power your console completely down, the “Xbox On” voice command won’t be available
until after the update is fully installed.

When you turn the console on you’ll see the update being applied. After that, your Xbox One will reboot. You’ll know the update is installing when you see the Xbox logo on the green background (like at the top of this post.) This can take anywhere from 2-5
minutes. Once the update has finished installing, you’ll boot to the Home screen and you’re all set.

Don’t worry, if you are out of town for the holidays, you console also does regular checks for updates and will download it in the background even if you have not used you Xbox One in a couple of days.
