My Xbox is lagging and can't open the network settings.

Make sure your NAT type is set to OPEN, take a look at this link for more details

support.xbox.com/.../network-ports-used-xbox-live. If its anything but open you will struggle especially with the already crap lag compensation.

For Xbox 360, my friend:

Network Reset:

Under My Xbox, open the System Settings application.

Navigate down to Network Settings.

Select your Wireless Network.

Select Configure Network.

Select Additional Settings.

Select Alternate MAC Address.

Select Clear. Wait for the console to restart.

Actually on Xbox 360 you can't Console Reset it because it doesn't allow to keep your games and apps, unless you manually back them up. So try to clear its cache:

Press the Guide button to open the Xbox Guide.

Navigate to the Settings tab.

Select System Settings.

With the System Settings menu open, select Storage.

Select Hard Drive.

Press the Y button to open the Device Options.

Select Clear System Cache.

Select Yes to confirm the operation, then wait for the process to finish.

Restart your Xbox 360, and see if your problems persist, my friend.

OP can you post your connection speeds from "settings, network, details". My lag is the same on my XB1 and 360. I did have sever lag with COD before and after running the multi-player test under XB1 settings, it reset my setting and the lag went away.

I'm having similar issues. My Xbox One has open NAT and no lag but my 360 is moderate. It doesn't make sense. I think the network adapter firmware on the 360 is buggy.
