My xbox is doing things by itself. What can I do?

It seems like you have performed all the necessary steps. Have you tried to use a different controller? If there is no other controller, have you tried turning off the controller to check if the same issue will occur?

In the meantime, please perform a powercycle and check if there will be an improvement.

POWERCYCLE CONSOLE​​​

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off. ​​​

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller. ​​​

We may just need to switch your power mode to shutdown mode.

"Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Power options.

Select the Shut-down (energy saving) option."

You may have set your console to sleep mode all this time wherein the console:

"Sleeps instead of turns off

Uses more power

Needed for remote wake and fast boot

Starts up faster

Wakes your console with your voice (where available)"

That would be great. If that still didn't work, if you can try plugging it in on a different wall, we can try that.
