My xbox for some reason will not not transfer any items to my external storage.

Randomly my external hard drive is no longer able to transfer items I keep getting "2% took too long" but after hard reseting it still won't work I don't think it's the hard drive because it worked perfectly fine before it still has some apps on it but it won't let me transfer games to no more. Tanks in advance

Hello, my name is Fernando, an independent consultant. Hope you are doing great. I will be more than happy to help you with your query today. You can try these procedures: Press the Xbox  button on your controller to open the panel.
Select Profile & System > Settings > System > Storage Devices.
Select Change Install Locations. If you have USB 3.0 external storage with a capacity of 128GB or more, you can use it to store Xbox One games and apps. If you like, you can use the drive to store and play music, videos, and photos on your Xbox One using the Media Player app. For the console to recognize the Pendrive, it must also be previously formatted by Windows in FAT32, not serving formatting made in Mac or Linux. For some reason none of that worked. I see the external harddrive listed under storage, but it will not let me transfer video games under the drive. Only music and pictures it says. It is a 3.0usb hard drive for the xbox one.

No longer have the old Xbox so can’t do a network transfer and do not use any forum of external storage so all my games are internal

They're online gamepass games I downloaded on my xbox one to my external hardrive. Some would be optimised, some are not. It's not an issue with running the games, the games just aren't showing on the external drive when plugged into the series s so I can't transfer or manage storage space effectively.

If you have enough space on your external HDD, copy everything there from inside the Xbox.

Make sure your saved games are in the cloud. Then on the new one just set your default drive to the external

Open Settings on the Xbox One.

Open the System tab.

Select Storage.

Select the internal drive.

Select Transfer.

Select items you plan to transfer. If moving all items, choose Select all.

Choose Copy selected to copy the items between drives.

To move the items, select Move.

Choose the Ext. drive.

Press Copy or Move to transfer.

After transferring your games to an external hard drive, plug it into the new Xbox One.

Stored should appear in your library.
