My Xbox fails to install disc games when it’s turned off despite instant start up always...

Turn off the instant on mode in the power and start up settings. Make sure when you are switching games you are actually quitting the game disc you are playing. Then eject. Then put your prior disc into its package then insert the disc you want to play.

I had a console off a friend and it would always try to update when you turn it on then fail and you are stuck there. I was told to put the update on a disc and put it in the console turn it off and rebot and install update. Got to be on disc as update on
usb did not work ,same as connecting to online did not fix it....

This error occurs when updates are paused and the xbox is turned off, a solution would be to disable the background download and turn off your consoles instant start, and then install the what you wanted to install without your console turning off.

With the console on instant on it will download games in the background. If you have 'When Xbox is off turn off storage under power and start up, it will not install. You will have to uncheck that option. Also you could reboot your network hardware, sometimes
it just needs a refresh.

to be clear the settings are

Power Mode Instant On

Automatically download updates and purchases turned on

when Xbox is off, turn off storage is on

on start go to tv and wake up xbox by saying xbox on are both off.
