my xbox controller keeps disconnecting every few minutes from my pc

Both of my controllers keep disconnecting. Each day it gets worse. It started when the controller update happened. Now the Xbox isn't even playable as it disconnects about every minute. What a waste of money.

Hello Hdkdhemevzlvelvysn, sorry to hear you're having trouble with your controller.

This has been a known issue in the past but Xbox has released a fix for the issue. I haven't had a problem since the release of it. Have you tried checking if your controller needs an update via the Devices tab in the console Settings?

A couple of other things you could try would be to use a micro USB cable to connect the controller to your console, this would mean you wouldn't need batteries anymore or, you could try holding the Sync buttons on both the controller and console for at least 60 seconds.

The second step helped when my controller used to desync.

Update: Same issue today, decided to stay offline today, disconnected from my wi-fi, turned off online mode, controller does not disconnect but 'freezes' every few minutes or so from 10-30 seconds with whatever the current button input was. Not sure if it's
related to the wi-fi/controller disconnect issue.

To be honest, a wireless bridge is the only thing you'd WANT to use this router for. Even with the excellent DD-WRT firmware, this item is a poor choice as a router. Why? Because the range of this router is just terrible. And that applies not
only to the 5Ghz "N" band (which has more limited range on all routers), but also to the standard 2.4Ghz B/G/N band. The range of this router is not ideal on any band. And that's a big problem for a wireless router. If you are replacing an older "G" wireless
router that has served you well, but which you feel is getting a bit long in the tooth (and you want that newfangled "N" band you've been hearing about), this is most certainly NOT the router for you. You will most certainly be disappointed with the range
compared to any decent "G" router.

The wireless router wireless settings need to be configured and the the wireless card in the computer and XBOX needs to be configured with the Netgear wireless settings.

Follow these steps

1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.

2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL

3. Enter the router setup login and password

4. Change the admin password

5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.

6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WAP2

7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.

8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.

9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.

10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router.

Anyone else get disconnected from xbox live after their controllers lose connection every few minutes? Nothing else on the network has any issues ever.
