My xbox controller is acting weird and not connecting to the console

Hi,

I have recently been having a strange problem with the connectivity of my xbox controller to my console.

The problem happens every few days and its starting to get annoying due to the process of fixing it constantly and its starting to happen more often between each phase (so it began happening every month, now its every few days).

So upon pressing the X button, the controller will turn on the console but as soon as it does this, the controller turns off and doesnt connect back. It just flashes the light twice then stops, even when it is connected with a wire to the xbox.

The only way to fix it is to turn everything off, then unplug the power cord from the xbox for about a minute. Then turn the controller on and while its flashing turn the xbox on and it will connect. When you remove the wire the controller will turn off and automatically turn on and connect.

I need help on why this problem keeps on happening, it never happened before and as mentioned its becoming more frequent.

Try performing a hard reset exactly like this.

Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console. Once it is back up and operational test
the results. Let us know if it works.

well, if you looked further at my last post, I said that the problem lies in when I boot up my console with a disc in it. Powering up my console either by the eject button, using the power button on the console, or activating it by way of the controller,
with NO DISC in it, produces no problems. But doing so WITH a disc in the console, gives me the problem. Now im asking if anything can be dine to make it so it boot up how I want it despite there being a disc in the console

Ok, I ended up doing those steps a few times and sometimes I get a "blah blah blah you can connect but you may have trouble with internet issues blah blah blah", but after seeing something weird, I think I stumbled upon the answer to this

When I turned on my console by way of ejecting the disc from it using the eject button, I found my console signed into live automatically; I even tested this by removing the disc from it (Halo Reach), shutting it down, unplugging my wireless n adapter tool
thing (the black internet dongle thing with 2 antennas that can attach itself to the back of the console), plugging the adapter back in and rebooting the console, it auto-signed me into xbox live (connecting to the internet and singing me into my xbl profile
in one go). To be honest, I do not know how this could've resulted from my xbl profile getting hijacked, but im guessing now it is a console thing; only question is, how do I fix it (bar getting a new console, because my dad will be REAL hesitant in doing
so, even if it might be used)

The next step we can try is running your Network Connection Test. Doing so will force you to sign out before testing your connection. When the test goes through properly you'll be able to sign in again and (hopefully) it will auto-sign you into Xbox Live. To
do that:

On your dashboard, go to Settings.
System.
Network Settings.
Select your network.
Select "Test Xbox Live Connection".

Once that runs, you'll be able to log back in again. Let us know if it auto-signs you into Xbox Live or not. ^_^
