My xbox app on pc doesn’t work and my game services

I understand you need help with your Xbox app issue.

Please try this:

First step is to delete gaming services:

Go to start > Search for PowerShell > Right click > Run as administrator. Type the following command and press enter:

get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

- Press Windows + R and type in "regedit". Press enter.

- Search for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services

- Delete the folders "GamingServices", "GamingServices.net" (if they're still there).

Delete temporary files:

- Press Windows + R. Type TEMP and look for “delete temporary files” and open it. Delete all the files from temporary files.

- Press Windows + R and type %TEMP% and Prefetch. Delete everything on both folders.

Reinstall gaming services:

- Restart your computer. Run Powershell as administrator and run the commands:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

After that, copy and paste this to powershell:

start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

- Install the app on that page.

Restart your computer again, check your games and see if you can install them already.

Found the problem - at some point while clearing out bloatware on my PC the Gaming Services and Xbox Identity Provider apps were deleted. Installed these again and now working fine.

Hi Chris, I appreciate the response but it doesn’t really help me or anyone else - no useful information which would help to solve the issue.

- It’s a PC, not a device, so not going to “hard reset” anything

- If Chrome delivered the same experience as the app (if it was fully functional) - I’d use Chrome. It doesn’t, as my post mentions - there is no rumble support. Not really good value for anyone paying full subscription price and getting limited functionality, is it?

P.S. Not really an xbox fan, just trying out a paid service which doesn’t work as described.

It’d be great to get answers which actually help to solve the problem and are on point, hope that makes sense.

So we did logged in online that than reset the app and restarted my computer

We tried signing into the Xbox app but it didn’t let the sign in box pop up again so than we followed the steps from the link and tried a different network but my pc doesn’t have network only Ethernet and the in app log in pop up still doesn’t show up

I solved that problem for Win 11 today with help from MS Support. While this problem is pretty easy to fix on Win 10 (just reset both Gaming Services and Xbox app in system - > Apps -> Advanced options and then reboot), there is a little more work to do when it comes to Win 11. What works for me was simply change account for my daughter account, run Xbox app there and then run the game (in my case that was Halo Infinite). Gaming Services on this other account wasn't corrupted and it just overwrite my corrupted version of Gaming Services from main account. Then you just need to reboot your pc and then go to system -> apps -> Xbox app -> 3 dots menu ->reset and after that reboot your pc again. Without resetting the Xbox app you will probably not be able to sign in into your Xbox account after overwriting data in Gaming Services from the other account.

It works just fine for me, especially I just can't erase old Gaming Service trace from my registry on Win 11, so i think the only way is to overwrite.

One thing though - i don't know how it will work with fresh created second account, the one I have used was created around a month ago just after installing fresh Win 11.
