my Xbox app on my PC keeps closing

I realize that you are experiencing the issue with the Xbox app automatically closing after opening in Windows system, and I understand how you feel.

Does this problem only occur in the Xbox app, and other software are normal? You can try the following methods to check whether it is caused by the app itself or the system:

Check Windows Update to ensure that the current Windows version is up to date:

Select Start > Settings > Update & Security (Windows Update) > Windows Update. Click Check for updates and install any available updates.

Clean boot the system to eliminate third-party factors interfering with the system, and see if the problem still occurs in the clean boot environment:

1. Press Windows+R to open Run, enter "msconfig" and press Enter, click the Services tab

2. Please "Make sure" to check "Hide all Microsoft services", and then click "Disable all" (if you have enabled fingerprint recognition and PIN code and other functions, please turn off the relevant functions first to avoid abnormalities)

3. Click the Startup tab, open the Task Manager, and disable all startup items; note that if there are third-party security software, please uninstall it temporarily.

4. Restart the device after completion

Create a new local administrator account:

You can go to the following website and follow the content to create a new local administrator account. The newly created local administrator account is an initialized user profile. Test whether the problem exists in the new account environment. After the creation is completed, press Windows+L to lock the screen, log in with the new account and open the Xbox app to see if the problem will recur:Create a local user or administrator account in Windows - Microsoft Support

This worked first try. Download Spybot's AntiBeacon software, keep everything default. Close Xbox PC app, run AntiBeacon, reopen Xbox app, profit.

My chat history in Xbox-app on PC was gone for 2 days, but suddenly today it's back.

My mother owns an Xbox One and uses it for the Kinect TV functionality and apps. If there were a few more PC related apps, she would close the lap top.

I also had the same issue. I recently reinstalled Windows 10 on a new SSD, and afterwards the Xbox-app would crash randomly. When I saw your Windows version I remembered that I had forgotten to install something.

You see I also have Windows 10 Home N, which is a special version of Windows 10 that comes without certain features due to some EU court ruling or something like that. Anyways, it doesn't really matter, since you can get these features by installing the
Media Feature Pack. I had forgotten to install this pack, and installing it fixed the issue.

Here's how to install it:

The Media Feature Pack for N versions of Windows 10 is available for download as an Optional Feature. To install the Media Feature Pack, navigate to Settings > Apps
> Apps and Features > Optional Features > Add a Feature and find the Media Feature Pack in the list of available Optional Features. Note, you will not be prompted to restart your computer, but
you must restart in order to successfully complete installation of the Media Feature Pack.
