My xbox and tv keep shutting of and can't tell if it's a problem with the xbox and power...

I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with your console.

If you don't mind, I'd appreciate it if you could answer the following questions.

- May I ask which Xbox model you are using?
- Besides the TV, do you have any other external devices plugged into your console?
- Is your console plugged directly into one of the wall's outlets? sometimes extension cords, power strips, surge protectors, and similar devices can cause this kind of problem.
- Once you turn your console back on, do you get any overheating warnings?
- Is HDMI- CEC turned on for your console at Settings > General > TV & display options > Device control?

Same problem here. Tried to reset the tv settings and now I can't get past the zip code entry as it keeps telling me it can't find tv providers. I contacted xbox support on Twitter and they said they're looking into it. I'll report back with any updates.

This could be the solution to that problem

Turn off the Xbox and TV console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.

Unplug the console and Tv power and HDMI cable. Wait 30 seconds.

Plug the console and Tv power and HDMI cable back in.

Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox and TV

Hi Ms. SoftKitty! I understand this problem completely, because it happened to me, and at one point it was also powering off my PC monitor (because it received commands on the same frequency!) The problem is, most TV's do not have a separate "power on" and
"power off" command, they are one and the same. SO, when your Xbox is turned on, your Kinect sends out the power signal, regardless of whether or not it's actually NEEDED (it can't tell your TV is already on.) As you've discovered, the problem with that is,
if the TV is on, the Power Signal has the opposite effect and TURNS OFF your set. A pain, I know.

The only way to prevent this from happening is by pressing Menu, going to Settings -> TV & OneGuide -> Device Control -> Power Settings and disabling the option for your Xbox to power on your TV when it is turned on.

I have the same problem with the same TV. It will not control TV power either off or on. I also can't get my Xbox to turn on by saying Xbox On, either. But Xbox off works, just won't turn TV off.
