My xbox amazon basics controller A button requires me to push the A button down its not sticky

I would try speaking with Amazon about this controller first as they usually provide great customer services and may just supply you a new one.

Map the clutch to the A button then you can shift up with B+A and shift down with X+A (basically just pushing two buttons at once) By far the easiest way to use the clutch with a controller.

To solve this issue I suggest you to follow these steps:

Turn on the console

Turn on the controller by holding down the Xbox button until it starts flashing then release.

Push and hold the small black sync button on the front of the controller until the Xbox button starts flashing faster then release.

Now push and release the sync button on the side of the xbox console.

Then push and release the Xbox button on the controller.

The light should slow down then stay on.

Your additional remotes should work properly now.

Same thing happened to mine, but mine isn't new so i can't take it back to the store

You could try taking it back to the store you bought it at and see if they'll do an exchange for you.
