My Xbox account had it's email and password changed.

I have been trying to get my Xbox account back for awhile now but it wont work after trying all the methods, like using the recovery form and trying to contact microsoft but nothing has been helpful. Does anyone else know how I can get it back? I have access to the email that made the account, but the recovery form won't let me use it as a form of contact so it makes it increasingly difficult to prove that I do own the account.

Hello DivineBeing2, I see in your description that you have already tried to recover your account by filling out the form, if you have not been successful try contacting Xbox support and request an ATO (Account Takeover), this is because this forum is public viewing and unfortunately as independent consultants we do not have access there is some data and procedures that Xbox Support has.

However the ATO is a similar procedure to the online form, but done by a Microsoft agent, it will need as much information as possible for you to do the procedure.

No. I had change my password due to my facebook account. They both used the same email address but not same password.

Hi guys. I had this same issue today. Right email and password, but error saying there was no such account/password. So, I followed various suggestions here and elsewhere with no luck. I then went to my Microsoft Live email account, of course signed in with
no issues, but when I tried to change the account password, it insisted that the password was wrong, even though I had just signed in with it!

So, I finally just signed out of Live and did the password recovery thing. I had the reset code sent to my cell phone, entered the reset code on the site, created a new password that way. Then I retried downloading my profile to my xbox again, as detailed
a couple posts back and this time it worked, with the new password of course.

It seems to me that there must be at least two password servers for live/xbox. The server for signing into my email account was fine, but my guess is that the server that handles xbox sign ins and Live account security (pasword changes) somehow corrupted
the stored password. (I'm guessing this since the password workef for email, but not for xbox, nor for trying to reset the password from with in Live's account section).

So, if this happens and you can not change your password while signed into live on the web, sign out, do the password recovery, set a new password and you should then be able to DL your profile to the XBox again using the new password.

Unless you had someone login to your account then changing your email password would be the only thing you need to do. Did they access your XBOX account? Also would be a very good idea to change your XBOX live password and add the security proofs to your
account. I have mine set to text me a code in the event someone would ever request a password change to my xbox account.

Is there a way to change the microsoft account my xbox account is on without changing the email on an acount?

I ask because I have the same account as when I was a kid and I had my dad's microsoft account, but now I want to change the acount to be mine without changing the password asscociated with his microsoft account.

No. The email is the Microsoft account which is the Xbox account. They are all one in the same so there isnt any way to separate them.
