you should NEVER hook up a 360 hard drive to any PC or laptop you basically have ruined that hard drive and it will no longer be usable as a 360 hard drive when attached to the console sorry.

There's not a cord that connects a 360 to a PC to transfer files. You would need to save them to a flash drive or external hard drive.

The 360 will allow an
external storage device to be connected to it. Have you tried saving your maps and such to an external drive to see if the 360's hard drive is going bad, or if the machine itself is corrupting the files. If the machine is corrupting the files, time to replace
it. If it's just the 360's drive corrupting them you can try looking for a new 360 drive.

That won't reset a 360 hard drive back to what it once was. It will no longer have the system files required of an Xbox hard drive.

FYI, just to clarify, you get the full storage space of an EXTERNAL drive, but if you got, for example, the CoD bundle with the 1TB internal hard drive, a portion of that WOULD be taken up with system files for the Xbox One's operating system. Just as an
example, on my launch console with a 500 GB hard drive, I had access to about 370 GB of space that wasn't used for system files.

On the external drive, though, the system files are still kept on the internal hard drive, so you wouldn't have any space taken up on your external!

Oh, and part of the system file space is reserved for game saves - so, it's saved in the cloud for easy access everywhere, but your game saves are also still local on the machine, too.
