My wife cannot add my friend, unmute or unblock him. The same goes for him

We have been having this problem for a while and I have called Xbox support a couple times and tried using the online help but nothing has worked. Long story short my best friend and wife cannot hear each other, they are not blocked or muted for each other
but their profiles are acting as such. On top of that they cannot add each other as friends and when the action is attempted it says without fail, every time: "We're sorry, but this action is unavailable. Please try again later" It's getting very irritating
at this point trying to hear one over the other(being that they can't hear each other talk and talk over each other) and have not found anyone with a similar problem or any fixes or forums to help. I'm hoping that someone on the Microsoft/Xbox support team
sees this and knows I have been trying to fix and deal with this for months. But if anyone has any suggestions or ideas I would love to hear them.

After talking with a specialist, the solution is actually very easy!

Remove the accounts in question
Restart the Xbox
Add the profiles back onto the consoles
Add the profiles in question as friends
Send party invite to test
1. If they can receive notifications from each other
2. If they can hear each other talk

It's as simple as that!

If it's just that specific friend, I'd tell him to mute you and then unmute or even block and unblock

I also have this issue and so does my son. He has a friend and his friend is unable to unmute him. He didn't place him on mute in the first place. He tries to unmute on his friends list but it just reverts back. I have his friend on my list and he is muted
under my account....through choice

. But I too can't unmute him now. Tried on my friends list, reverts back to muted. Tried by going under my profile, going to following, selecting muted, unmuting him there.....still the same.

Anybody got any ideas? Could Fortnite have anything to do with it? Tried going in to party, then going to in game chat, leaving it for 10 secs, going back to party and unmuting. Has worked for some....not for me. Please, help me. my son won't stop moaning
about it. Is it something that just resolves itself or is that it?

After all of the updates, I have the same problem. Last night I Played 4-5 games with one of my friends, everything was fine and then all of sudden I could not hear him, he was muted and I could not unmute him.

No I never answered my own question. If you read carefully, I said I know what to do to unblock somebody. Then I asked how can I unblock somebody when we've blocked each other? This means I explained that I know how to unblock somebody when he hasn't
blocked me. This means things are harder to deal with when we've blocked each other because if I send him a message, invite or friends request, he won't get either of them so that I can unblock him, same thing visa-versa if he tries to unblock me. I was
asking if there's another way to unblock somebody when he's also blocked me, such as, is there a block list for me to unblock him from or can I unblock him by contacting Xbox Live?
