Xbox Live gold is only shared on the main console. If you set the new Xbox 1 as your son's main console then the subscriptions and games will be shared on that console.

It will not affect your son on his own console as long as he is logged into his account. He'll still be able to use his subscription and all his games. It would only impact him if he was playing on a different account.
