My son has joined xbox live as a family member but he doesnt seem to be recognised?

Because the original account is now your eldest son's account. Technically he has to consent all the changes on the family settings.

I think, you and your youngest son should be removed from the family group first (the one that you share with your eldest son). He might have to do it, as he has the parental control.

Then sign in your xbox, and create a new family group for you and your youngest son.

Remove yourself or a family member from your family on Xbox One

Create a child account and add family members on Xbox One

The account access doesnt recognise my email address, says no account exists. I'm using a family members account to post and answer this question.

if your son want to access xbox live on different console all he has to do is login through the microsoft account. you dont have to pay a second time. if he is worried about other family members using his account he can apply a passkey also so there is no
issues of signing out when some other family member accidently sign in to his account.

Thank you for the response. We tried changing my husband's WLID password this morning (which worked) but we are still trapped in the account/password loop when trying to add my son. I finally broke down and had the tech support guy to submit a ticket to
have my son's xbox live id manually added to my gold family pack. He happily did this as he was stumped as well. He informed me it would take 1 to 4 days (b/c it has to go over to the research team). AT this point, that is fine. We bought the subscription
so that my son could play on-line with friends. Now the other 3 family members are on the gold pack and he is the only one we can't get loaded. Irony!

I just want to bump my old thread to say that I am still unable to add my son to my family gold plan. He currently has 21 months of gold. My family plan has 11 months of gold. When I try to add him it says "This member can't be added to the gold family
pack. Adding the member's remaining time would exceed the limit for this gold family pack."
