  1. My son (child account) is unable to play Minecraft (paid version) in multi-player mode

    Hi there,

I have a parent account and added my son as the child account. It is a great way to monitor screen time, web searches, website visits etc. I love it. I also have a M365 account shared with him so he can be productive at school work.

I purchased Minecraft Java Edition for my son. I have changed the App and Game filter to "Any Age". I also have enabled all privacy settings in his XBox/Windows 10 profile to share, allow friends requests etc.

But still, when he opens his Minecraft and launches the game, it does not allow him to play Multiplayer.

My son is playing Minecraft on laptop using his child account.

I have read a few articles stating that users cannot play multiplayer if their age is below 18 and also if they are part of a family group. But if I change his age or remove him from the family group, it defeats all the purposes of monitoring and keeping children safe.

    Kind regards,

    Javed

    :)

Okay, lets try to follow theses steps to solve the issue:

Check that your network connection is enabled and that no programs are blocking outgoing connections.

Try disabling any existing firewall program or changing its configuration options.

    Restart your modem/router.

You may also want to try logging out of your account and then logging back in, as this refreshes your profile's authentication and connection with our servers.

    Restart your device.

If you're on a wired connection, try connecting with a wireless connection or vice versa.

Try connecting with another network connection if possible.

If you're using a VPN, try turning it off.

Check to see if the server is down using downdetector.com.

    Hi Miguel,

It appears that the issue was resolved after the computer restarted and re-login to the Minecraft launcher. I believe it took about 24 hours for the changes I made on my son's profile to replicate (maybe) because of geographical/timezone disparities between Minecraft and Microsoft accounts.

    Thanks and regards,

Hi, I'm Miguel, community expert, I may not be an employee of Xbox, but I see you need some help, I'm Happy to help you.

It is probably due to a blocking issue due to the same parental control.

To validate this and still change the configuration so that your child can play online, you must follow these steps:

1.Log in to https://account.xbox.com/settings with the parent's Microsoft account.

    2.Click the child account's profile.

3.In the navigation tabs, click Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 devices Online Safety

4.Select Allow for You can create and join clubs, and You can join multiplayer games.

I have certainly done this by logging in using Parent account, then selecting child's account profile created for gaming, navigate to the tab Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 devices Online Safety and select allow/everyone on all options.

Please note my son uses Windows 11

I granted my child permissions to play multi-player minecraft and it continues to say he cannot play. How long does it take for new permissions to load in??

If that's the case, that's ridiculous. I want to play minecraft multi-player on xbl, which I paid for both xbl and minecraft on my Xbox. But I can't play with my Playstation in the other room because they both are on my microsoft email. So I gotta put my son's microsoft email on the PS5 minecraft login and mine on the Xbox since xbl is exclusive to login email.... so lame.
