My Series Xbox controllers keeps turning off and one and buttons become unresponsive

Hi,

Some reason my controller just refuses to stay on.

I was in the middle of using it while playing a game. it was completely fine until it just turned off?

At first it unsynced itself from my Xbox, so I reconnected it and this is where it wasn’t happy. It decided to keep turning off and back on again and the first time it happened the buttons decided they no longer wanted to work. The only ones left working was the Triggers, Home button and Sticks. Any other button I clicked did nothing. Even the sync button didn’t want to work.

So I tried plugging the controller into the Xbox, with and without batteries, it didn’t change a thing apart from my controller would start to turn off and then vibrate twice and wouldn’t turn back on unless I held the home button.

So here’s a list of everything I have done:

Changed the batteries, rechargeables and non rechargeables, used a cord to plug it in with and without batteries:

Power cycle the Xbox like 3 times for it to change nothing

Gave the controller a firmware update (which was such a pain cause the controller didn’t want to work its way to the settings)

Left the Xbox off over night with no power connected

Unplugged the batteries a thousand times

Tried resyncing the controller like 5 times

Attempted to connect it to another Xbox in the house with the sync button and with a cord. It did nothing (the sync button wouldn’t even work for me to try) the controller would even vibrate to say it’s plugged in but nothing still.

So that’s everything… what else should I try, to try fix it?

Or do I really need a new controller

UPDATE: I connected my controller into my pc and yet the buttons still don’t work. After like 30 minutes my controller randomly vibrated and the buttons worked for like one second and stopped. I tested it with the Xbox accessories app but the controller kept seeming to crash the app

Bunny, if even connecting it with the USB cable to the console and even trying it on another console it does not manage to stay on and paired, it means that there is a hardware fault in that controller, additionally it indicates that the sync button does not work.

If your controller is still under warranty, try submitting a service request for your controller from the following link:

Thanks for the response! I’m not sure if it’s still in warranty or not, but I’ve put a request in. My fingers are crossed cause I’ve tried everything 😞

I have almost the same Issue on the standard Xbox one ever since the last update crashing freezing glitching having to power cycle as Xbox becomes unresponsive to controller.

notice sometimes if you hold home button and select turn off Xbox it locks up and wont shut down turn on or anything just the turn off controller or Xbox screen stuck and unresponsive end up power cycling think up to my 20th power cycle sinse the update
grrrrrr.

No error message the controller does not turn off, just randomly becomes unresponsive.
