I called Microsoft because I had 0 reward points for the month of December. After I got off the phone with them, I had 4200 credits, But 6% of at minimum $130 and maybe up to $150 is equivalent to 7800 points up to 9000 points.

If you haven't already, check your returns at Sign in to your Microsoft account to see if it shows the deposit there. That site will also list any transactions that may have already used the funds.

Since you were not a Gold member for the entire month, you were not Rewarded at a Gold level. That requires you to be a Gold member for the entire month. Therefore you received 3% payback.

You can see a record of all Credit and Deposit events from the MyStatement section of the MyRewards page. Since your last deposit was in July 2015, if you have not already spent those funds, then they would have expired at this point. All promotional currencies
expire from Microsoft Accounts roughly one year after being placed.

Subscriptions, in-game consumables, preorders, and hardware are not eligible for VIP. So those purchases would not have made your star level go up.
