My prepaid code doesn't work on the xbox one but works on the xbox 360

Prepaid codes for Xbox content will work on both the Xbox One and the Xbox 360. You can continue purchasing the prepaid Gold membership codes as you have been, to use them on your Xbox One.

If the code was already used you would have to contact Amazon Support who will issue you a replacement or refund and they will no doubt pass it onto another team to investigate with that has happened.

Prepaid codes work on Xbox One & Xbox 360 aswell.

As its a Prepaid code Xbox support will not be able to help resolve the issue.

Remeeming errors can be caused by issues on the account itself. Be sure to check if your billing information is correct at
http://billing.microsoft.com and also check
http://account.microsoft.com/services for any outstanding amount issues, these need to be sorted prior to being able to redeem codes.

After that try redeeming the code on both xbox console and via xbox.com/redeemcode

Also check that the Xbox Live account, the console and code all match region wise, using different regions for any of them cause issues too.

If it does go through there, then try to redownload your account (remove it and add it back to your console) following these steps:

Lastly, if like, you can't get it to work at all, and your friend has not contacted Xbox Support yet, then he can and they can discuss what kind of options he has dealing with that purchase.

Try the following methods:

1) Try to renew your membership on the Xbox and if that doesn't work, do it online.

2) If (1) doesn't work, you can purchase a membership prepaid card at any retail store and redeem the code.
