My PC crashes while trying to update my xbox controller. (blue screen)

That's odd
Can you try updating your controller using a different PC? This helps us to isolate the problem a bit more.

In the meantime, may I know if you're using a Windows insider build?

Or try creating a new local administrator user in your PC and try from there

If the issue persist with a different user try running the SFC tool to find and repair possible system corruptions

A. Open the task manager > select the startup tab > disable all the programs listed there temporarily
Restart the PC and try again

B. Do a clean boot in your PC and try updating the firmware one more time

I have tried both methods and got the same result. A bluescreen with the stop code: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

What failed: xboxgit.sys

Exactly what happened the first time I tried updating my controller.

I did get the gamepass but I just didn't get the code for discord nitro and yes I did try loading the Xbox PC app but I had to update my PC and I tried to update it and it gave me a blue screen of death and im kinda scared to try it again also if you're
wondering what the crash was it was this driver irql_less_or_not_equal what failed storahci.sys

I tried updating my windows because that's where it lead me when I try to follow your instructions.. I then just left it to update and after a while my laptop went to bios utility but I just restarted my laptop and then it opened back again but then after using my laptop for like 5 mins it suddenly crashes and the blue screen appeared and restarted so I just let it restart but after using my laptop again it started to crash and the blue screen appeared.. it keeps happening and happening and now I don't really know what to do.. I tried some suggestions online but nothing seems to work like trying to uninstall the update again but when I checked the last update was on Dec 16 and I just updated this a while ago (Jan 16) I don't really want happened plsss hellpp.. 😭
