    My original account was hijacked a year ago and my email associated with that account was...


    This is an extermely specific problem automated Microsoft help couldn't help me.

    I was checking my email that is right now in use by this account, created merely 5 minutes ago, perhaps a week ago and I noticed 3 emails from Microsoft:

    1. a 7 digit security code (I presume to log in)

    2. removal of security features (not mine phone number)

    3. addition of security features (phone number I currently have)

    All of those emails were sent within 2 minute period in that order. Before creation of this account (2nd May 2023 ~11pm gmt+2) there was no account with that email and there is different email in use on that account (which I can provide if necessary). All of that happened because I wanted to play Minecraft and I couldn't log in (money wasted).

    Is there anything that can be done?

    You're right, we can only speculate.
    Sadly if it's not possible to access to the account you may need to purchase again the game with a new or different account.

    A good way to avoid a similar situation in the future is protecting your account using the two verification factor and adding an authenticator app

    No, my account was created long before even considering buying Minecraft and when trying to log in there (that is, to account the game was purchased on) i'm prompted to log in to Microsoft account which I do not have access to. I have already sent out a recovery request but it was unable to verify me as the original owner of that account.

    If I understood correctly your concern, you created a Microsoft account to play Minecraft but now you're not able to access to that account?

    I'm not sure either, we could only speculate - the account was hijacked some time ago (perhaps somewhen in the last year), the original email removed, different one added and password changed - the usual when account is hijacked (most likely due to having Minecraft premium - not any pirated launcher). Right now I cannot access what I paid for and I miss the money spent.
