My og gamertag

Hello, I appreciate the replies, No the gamertag is a five letter og real word tag. And when I search it up on in the search bar it comes up with followers but no friends, also the account is dead no activity, I understand that it can be claimed anywhere else in the system. But what are the odds that within seconds of me changing it some real person took it. Because I know Microsoft and Xbox have a huge thing with short and real word ( from the dictionary) tags. Thanks and yes I get a suffix because it is claimed but buy a turbo bot. Because it’s an original gamertag, from the release in 2016

I think the only chance to find out more is to contact the phone support - they sometimes have some really surprising answers (just find a reason in the list to get a call back)

But if you talk with them, please do not forget that it was YOU who was going through the whole Gamertag change process "accidentally" !

as soon as you change your name then it is up for grabs full stop, someone probably got something that alerts them when it is available and then claimed it, but usually when you change it can lock the other one out for minutes or several hours or even a few days while the servers sync.

Unfortunately, the gamertag system is being managed by the system alone based on its algorithm. If it doesn't allow you to take it back, I am afraid you cannot claim it back yet. I suggest to wait for couple of hours and try to claim it again. It's possible that it was not completely freed up by the system yet.

if you haven't been able to change back to the old Gt must not mean that it was claimed.

What happens if you try to change it now ?

Do you get a suffix (number) behind the Gt ?

But however it is not a getting back, if you have used all your free Gt changes you have to pay for the change.

PS: Was the old Gt longer than 12 characters ? If so it wouldn't be possible to get it back !
