My October 2nd 2018 update is switching between failed pending and successful?

Here is to helping others as much as myself...

So my October 2nd 2018 update status is switching between failed pending and successful on my VCR model Xbox One console this may be due to my wireless connection failing during the update or that it's 3 years old but what I fail to understand is that the
console makes me manually run console updates while apps and games update automatically after I approve them. The real kicker is that I was never given a console update notice and since then I have tried a hard and soft restart along with a reset of the console
itself and the problem still persists so I'm posting to these forums in a last ditch effort before I call Microsoft Support on the phone to discuss the problem there.

Since the October update there’s a known issue they’re tracking when switching between games and streaming apps.

@microsoft I need you to pay close attention before thinking about replying because while you try and make me look stupid see below:

August 2017- purchased FF15

October 26 2018- purchased FF15 gift

October 26 2018- purchased FF15 again (mistake wanted only dlc)

October 27 2018 refund given for Gift... wrong it was supposed to be for the FF15 I purchased on my account not the gift october 26 2018.

what is so complicated?

Can you chane your wifi DNS settings through your xbox to primary 84.200.69.80 and secundary 84.200.70.40 if that doesn't help try google DNS settings primary 8.8.8.8 and secundary 8.8.4.4 if that doesn't resolve the problem please contact the custumor support

If you are an insider, the auto update feature does not always update. It will get forced anytime from 6-8 hours after release. Checking reddit daily will help you to see time and date of new OS releases.
