My Microsoft account is being compromised despite 2FA

Hello.

Yesterday I recieved an email saying that someone might have my password. This is something that has happened before, that's why enabled 2FA but it didn't seem to work.

When I go to settings - security I can see that everyday someone (or something, probably a bot) is trying to access my account by trying different passwords.

Is there something I can do to stop these bots from trying to sing in?

About your issue, most of the time, if we reuse passwords across different accounts, they can get exposed because of data leaks from other services (not necessarily Microsoft) or even just someone guessing them. But as long as you have 2FA set up, no one should be able to actually log into your account, even if they have your password.

As for those login attempts, they’re pretty much a constant thing, and there’s not much we can do to stop them. I get a ton of attempts on my account too, but the key is having a strong password and 2FA. That way, those attempts are just that, attempts. They won’t get anywhere.

If you’re worried, I’d suggest changing your password just to be safe, but definitely keep 2FA enabled. That’s your best line of defense.

Recover the account, you should have set up a recovery email. Also this is why you add 2FA, cant stress it enough how important it is.

Unfortunately, there is no way to see the person who may have changed your gamerpic. Your account may have been compromised, I would suggest changing your password and enabling 2FA on the account.

the only way that someone can even buy something from your account is if that someone has access to your account, i.e sharing credentials to share games is the worse one for this, or using a very weak password with no 2fa or letting someone else have access to your xbox/pc without being passcode/pin protected. these are the only ways this could happen.

i would open and unauthorised access request with Microsoft if you think your account has been compromised.
