The headset jack on 360 was a different size, and USB devices will not work

There are factors that we may check if your microphone does not work on this Xbox 360 game. It could be compatibility issue, muted in game settings, the headset should be plugged into the controller or console or switched to wireless, and it could be the microphone was not default. For us to isolate the issue, we would like to ask for details about your concern.

1. May we ask if your headset is connected to the Xbox Console or controller?
   
2. May we ask if what game are you playing?
   
3. May we ask if you can use different headset for this game?
   
4. How about the microphone, was it set to default?
   
5. Is the microphone unrecognized by this specific game alone? How about other games?

That icon does not mean your Mic is muted. All it means is that no mic is detected. My sugestion is to try the mic with another controller. Reconnect you controller two your Xbox. I did this when it was not working for me.
