    My local Xbox captures disappeared


    Today I have discovered that my Xbox files that were stored on my console (not Xbox network) disappeared. Some clips that are 200+ days old are still there, even the newest ones from this month but others are gone. I’m also pretty sure I haven’t reached any storage limit because I didn’t have that many.

    I’m so disappointed because they were memories I made while playing with my friends. Also disappointed that there’s no way to contact support.

    Is there anyone who knows what might have caused this?

    Hi, Anna! I'm sorry to hear that some of your captures are gone. No worries, I'm happy to assist you with this today.

    Based on the Xbox update, game clips, or captures stored on the Xbox network will be deleted after 90 days. In your case, the ones you have left which are 200 days old or more are probably stored locally.

    Screen captures lost while offline

    Well apparently that's not correct, unless it simply wasn't saving any of my captures at all while I was offline, which I had no way to check because it's impossible to view captures while offline, but it always said the captures were saved successfully. No system reset was performed except for the system update once I had internet again, which appears to be when the system erased all the captures. I'm not even the only one to have this problem of locally stored captures disappearing.

    @TheHooiganTX Thanks for the suggestion about the privacy settings. I've had a look and everything is set to as open as possible.

    Also Upload Studio was already installed. I don't have an app called Game DVR.

    I think there is something to it though.

    After reading this topic, I checked out my screenshots / clips on my Xbox and noticed all of the ones that were not uploaded yet are gone except for 1 from 14 days ago.

    I've taken several screenshots of environments in Red Dead 2, and a video of a bear attacking me because it kind of glitched when it happened. Those are all gone.

    Thanks for the link, though that looks like it only applies to captures on xbox live, not local storage.
