My HP Spectre Laptop isn't charging properly. What can I do to fix it?

Hello Yasmeen, try plugging the power supply directly into an electrical outlet, if it still won't charge your laptop, it would be best to contact HP support.

depending on the age could be the battery starting to fail, they only last about 2 years or maybe 3, i work on laptops as my main job and batteries failing is always a common occurrence.

to test make sure the pc is off then power on and mash the F2 key until the test diag menu pops up, then select power and battery to do a test, it will tell you the state of the battery, if it asks to do a calibration then do that as this can sometimes correct any issues but will take 4 or more hours.

If under a year old then the battery is covered by warranty, if over a year you will need to pay for a replacement with fitting, the battery is classed as a consumable part.

I have repaired and still repair hp laptops among all other manufacturer types too, this is all too common with HP. Have you by chance upgraded to windows 11, if so, go back to windows 10 as a lot of hp drivers are simply not ready or outright do not work with windows 11 properly.

if that fails then either the paste on the gpu is dry and cracking or the gpu is failing, also a common issue on these laptops.

you could try obs but it may not work very well as it can use cpu for encoding, but as you laptop is a hp which is already useless it may not work properly.
