My HP laptop 14s-fq1xxx detects my recon 70 headset speakers but not the microphone for it.

The best way to test this is to use a different earphone or headset with microphone and see if you'll be able to use the mic. If you'll experience the same issue, we can conclude that what you are experiencing is either a hardware or a software problem.

To further isolate your issue, make sure that your audio drivers are installed and updated to the latest. Go to your device manufacturer's page, look for your laptop's model and install the latest audio drivers. Once installed, try your headset again.

To set your microphone in Windows 11, go to Start > Settings > System > Sound, then under "Input" select your desired microphone from the list and set it as the default device if necessary; ensure you also check your privacy settings to allow apps access to your microphone.

Thanks for helping to try solving it and I did try out those two things but the thing is when I plug my headphones in nothing happens like when my headphone speakers are working the laptop recognizes it as its own speaker that is already on the laptop and the microphone is the laptop microphone and I can't set anything to headset device if it isn't there but my laptop which is the HP EliteBook 8470p Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR) can support both microphone and sound at the same time

I am using the Turtle Beach Ear Force Recon 30X Chat Communicator Gaming Headset.



I have never tried this setup before using the Xbox App, but feel it should work as every other aspect of my computer can detect and use the headset speaker and microphone. It is only the Xbox App that cannot find the microphone on this headset.

I am trying to use the headset on my computer exactly like it would be used on the Xbox One, through the 3.5mm jack. There is no reason this should not work because my computer finds the microphone just fine.

I have two headsets and it is the same on both, when I plug them in it only still shows me using the default microphone and speakers but still connects the speakers to my headset but not my microphone.

Even though I'm not using a headset? I'm literally using speakers that are higher than my microphone which is a directional microphone.....
